Another Oilers Fix

Created by: LeafsFan
Team: 2016-17 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 22, 2016
Published: Mar. 22, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not a blow up but adds significant pieces, Minny needs a better number one center (not saying RNH is a no. 1 but is probably the best available center) Spurgeon is right handed top 4 D to help (you could choose any top 4 defenseman that Minnesota has it doesn't necessarily have to be Spurgeon, just similar contracts and right handed is why I chose him, could pick Brodin or Scandella). Big acquisition IMO is Shattenkirk who the Blues need to trade and the return I gave them probably isn't enough however you can add the necessary picks and prospects to equal out. I think keeping Eberle is important so McDavid can have a good linemate.
Backes brings physicality and leadership to young squad.

Blues do not need to trade Shattenkirk, he can be resigned fairly easily. The value of the trade is horrid as it's a 3rd liner, a cap dump, and what's probably a 2018 pick. That does not make the Blues a better team immediately, nor does it give them significant value in futures. Shattenkirk could be traded easily for a pick in the 7-10 range, just note previous trades of Schneider and Jordan Staal, who were in the same contract situation as Shattenkirk.
