the problem with toronto signing a big name in FA, they need cap space for Matthews and Marner. maybe 1 year for Joe, but its more likely they go after Carlsson anyways (if hes available)

Gardiner and Hainsey are both coming off the books next summer, Hainsey will be too old to resign and Gardiner will either be too bad to sign or he will be too good and price himself out of the market.
