Inspired by a post I saw saying that Ottawa and Edmonton were looking at a trade but Edmonton needed to clear 6m in cap room. . .
Trades I can't really show here accurately but here is what each gets:

Ottawa: Montreal's 3 OA, Max Pacioretty, Mtl's 2019 2nd

Montreal: Hoffman, RNH, Lucic, 10 OA, Ottawa's other 1st rounder (Pens), Klefbom.


Ed: E Karlsson, Alex Galchenyuk, Victor Mete

So Ottawa gets to get rid of its locker room problem and essentially gets 3rd OA pick, a 2nd and a year at least of Pacioretty for Karlsson. Given the news, that's not a bad return.

Edmonton instantly shores up its blue line and gets a winger to replace RNH in Galchenyuk. Plus that's 16m in cap space out and 12 ish in, for 4m in savings. Good for UFA hunting or cap issues down the road.

Montreal gets a C, gets Hoffman to replace Max and rolls the dice on the lockerroom drama. Lucic is a cap dumb to make it all doable for Edmonton. The other first rounder from Ottawa is because Montreal is taking a chance on the locker room going to crap. Klefbom for Mete hurts but is doable,
