Overall not too excited about either the line-up, nor the trades, which mean both are probably ok. None of Vanek, Nylander or Bouwmeester would be in my top preferences for upgrades, yet they likely are upgrades so you have the team going in the right direction.

I'm not sure McElhinney is any better than Gillies (my preference) or Rittich, I doubt he is, and being UFA-1 means nobody signed past next year and none of the prospects have a chance to prove themselves at the NHL level so you're staring at a high risk, potential goalie disaster after next year. McElhinney for sure is not starter material. I've never liked Vanek's 200ft commitment nor Nylander's tendency to disappear when the going gets tough (like this year's playoffs), and Bouwmeester we've already had and seen how much he gets involved.... This is not the way forward for this team. It would be better to do nothing and play more prospects and see what they might do and go down with the ship if nothing, than overpay these bunch who have already proven they don't measure up, or are the definition of mediocrity at best.
