Description
Homegrown wings (Wilson, Vrana, Barber, Galiev) must develop as expected for this team to excel. Zucker can play any wing in bottom six as necessary, and Lats and Deslauriers can pop in the lineup when Trotz thinks Caps need some grit. This team is deep down the middle and skilled on the wings. 3rd line has the potential to be a high scoring force if Vrana can finish at the NHL level.

Caps keep same D core... until one of Orpik/Niskanen gets picked in the expansion draft.

Gruby is never going to supplant Holtby but has a decent amount of value and can be an NHL starter. Whole process resets as Caps groom Vanecek for a future trade while Samsonov develops in the KHL.
