Brassard would bump Backlund down, in no world is that an upgrade. For our top D prospect that is NHL ready and a strong middle six winger. Not a chance

Brassard trade doesn't make sense. A cheap center capable of scoring 50 points is valuable, especially with Crosby and Malkin prone to missing games. Sheahan isn't as good. And that also means you have a guy playing 4th line center who isn't as good. And to do this for a draft bust (bottom six winger) and a depth defenseman? Insane.

Bennett isn't particularly valuable or good. Doesn't help in a Karlsson trade. Also sending Maatta and his reasonable long-term cap hit away doesn't make sense. An offensive RHD like Schultz makes far more sense for both teams. Penguins would still be left with three of the top four signed long term + Karlsson. Schultz's larger cap hit off the books also makes it easier to re-sign Karlsson as well. Regardless, this kind of package isn't going to work.

Where's the need for another 2nd line center??

I keep repeating this : there's so few people who actually think about the moves they make on both teams perspectives...it's so annoying

To be fair, I don't think this person thought about it from any of the team's perspectives.
