Description
Ryan + Anderson = $39.5 cash remaining
Lucic + Koskinen + 1/2 Ryan = $40mm cash remaining, but after 1 season/signing bonus of Lucic, Ottawa can unload his $6mm cap hit vs. $4mm avg. salary ($16mm total) far easier than it would ever get rid of Ryan or Anderson alone.
-Total Cash Savings to Ottawa ~$15.5mm

Deal is effectively then EK for Sekera (likely on IR the rest of his career, but top 3 d-man if not), Benning (top 4 potential), Kassian (salary dump) 3 out of 5 of Edmonton's best prospects, 2 1st's and a 3rd.
-Sekera 20% insurance payment + 2 years each of Kassian/Benning minus EK cash is $3.2mm....so basically Ottawa gets Kassian and Benning for only $800k each for next two seasons, and ~6 good picks/prospects for EK.

Contingent on EK extension of 8 * $11.5mm

EDM top prospects, not named Bouchard, are not even top 10 on more than half the teams in the NHL, Sekera is old and OTT is rebuilding also has a NTC/NMC, Lucic has negative value and NTC/NMC, and OTT is NOT retaining on Ryan. You basically giving EDM EK for scrap parts.

Two first rounders, Benson (#32 overall draft or 1st guy in second round nowadays), McLeod ranked #22 overall by Bob McKenzie + legit roster player in Benning looks like quality to me......

re. Sekera...hence the LTIR coment.....
Ryan and Anderson trade value is a lot more negative than Lucic.

Lucic cannot play in the NHL, andersson can and Ryan is far better than Lucic.

Lucic had 1 more point than Ryan last year, despite scoring 8 points in his last 46 games (and 26 points in the other 36 games before christmas) during a career worst run of bad luck....
Anderson is 37 and ranked 48 out of 51 in sv% for goalies who played 25+ games.

Ryan 11g 22A in 62 games, Lucic 10g 24A in 82 games, 20 games diff 1 point, Ryan would have scored more. Get over rouself, Lucic has ZERO value while Ryan has some limited value, and Lucic has a NTC/NMC he is NOT waiving to go to OTT. Anderson had a bad year.....OTT is NOT trading the Best Dman in the league for old hasbeens and AHL players and bad prospects.

Sekera is probably done for the season, Fat chance either Lucic or Sekera waive for Ottawa. You want an extended Erik Karlsson the pieces need to be far better then this.
