Doing the Unthinkable

Description
A Montreal fan came up with a trade where they traded for the Blackhawks 3rd overall and sent it to NY
along with the blue jackets 4th and prospects Ryan Poehling and Joel Teasdale for the 2nd overall. The Rangers wouldn't do it, but what if they did?
Well, you could do most of the things you would have done anyway. Sign Panarin, trade up, though its costly, dump some vets, trade for Fox. It really comes down to if you'd rather have Poehling, Teasdale, and whoever you take at three vs Kakko.

Additional Details:
In this deal Mtl has already traded their #1 to Chi to get the 3OA, which NYR use on Bowen Byram. Also the 4th I'd really the CBJ 4th, but not important.

Sorry, I am not following: As I read it, you want Montreal's #1, which you say is actually Chicago's #3OA, plus Poehling, Teasdale and a 4th rounder to move up one spot? I think anything that involves Poehling is probably out, but I am pretty sure that deal would result in some tar and feathers being brought down to the Bell Centre executive offices.

Montreal must have Chiarelli because no GM in their right mind would accept that

Sorry I had trouble making it clear and have no skills to link anything. A Montreal fan wanted to make a trade with Chicago to get 3OA Then trade the 3OA, Poehling (or Suzuki), Teasdale, and a 4th round pick to move up one spot to 2OA. It would be hard for NY to make that trade because of the hype around Kakko but it's a lot of assets to move one spot - plus what it would cost to go from 15 to 3.

I can't see Montreal doing that. You only have to look at Winnipeg and Patrick Laine to know how difficult it can be to draft a European at #2. I think Laine is an excellent player, but at #3 there's Dubois, #6 Tkachuk and #7 Keller. Plus there were some can't-miss Finns (Puljujarvi and Juolevi) who seem to have missed. Honestly, I'd be surprised if the Habs were to do all this to amass 3 top-15 picks and then bet everything on moving up one more spot. I also think the Rangers would struggle to make the trade because there's a risk that Kakko gets taken #1 and Hughes falls to #2. If the Rangers lost out on a born-and-bred American superstar, there'd be some serious grumbles along Broadway.
