Buy him out as a a salary dump in the Virtanen/Hornqvist trade? Are you blind?

It's absolutely hilarious to me that people wanna drive Phil out of town making $6,8M with the production he has in order to bring in Alex Goligoski and his awful contract for 2 more years. And he's almost 2 years older than Phil is!

No, it's just dumb of them to acquire bad players and retain salary and bury people in the minors just to acquire a speedy third line winger in exchange for Hornqvist.

So we save almost 3M in cap space with Virtanen and Spooners buyout, replace Hornqvist with Toffoli, because that trade won't happen without the cap space, and it's dumb? I think your dumb for wanting to pay Hornqvist 5.3M the next 4 years. Hornqvist is good, don't get me wrong, but gaining cap space and a young player who can be good for a lot longer, and is still getting better, is a move the Penguins should be looking to make.

Cap teams can't afford to buy out players. Your literally looking at a roster of a usual cap strapped team buying out a player for 1.3M this year and still having 1.7M in cap space. That is a moronic statement. Hornqvists contract is huge, and paying Spooner 1.3M for 2 years isn't bad when you shed 3 million dollars. Moron.

I didn't make that trade because that's what I want for Phil Kessel, but I sure could see it being something Chayka and Rutherford settle on because the value is pretty fair. You shouldn't be complaining about Gologoski if Johnsons gone. Because Gologoski is an addition to addition by subtraction with Johnson.

*you're

No, I don't want to pay Hornqvist that much for that long. It's just incredibly dumb get rid of it in exchange for two worse players, one of which you plan to buy out and the other will get a decent contract in a year. Insane. He also has a full NTC right now. This is dumb and you should feel bad.
