That is not what the Caps did with Orpik. Colorado bought Orpik out, and he became a FA so the Caps could sign him. And Colorado only had to buy out one year or Orpik. A budget-conscious team like Arizona is not going to take on two big buyout hits.

And another thing, the NHL will definitely not allow your plan of pre-determined salary cap circumventing between Arizona and Boston. They were angry at the Caps and Avs last year for what they did. They'll definitely punish something like this.
