I think sharks don't match that. But that's putting a lot of faith (and money) into a one-time 30 goal scorer.

You might be right, but Meier has shown steady improvement every single season and is still only 22. His best years are ahead of him and he'd be a cornerstone of a rebuilding wings team. Plus, this contact would buy 3 years of UFA. When comparing this deal to the one Kevin Hayes just signed, this might actually be a bargain. 60-70 point guys are getting upwards of $7million these days.
