So in this scenario, Vancouver gets a 2nd round pick for taking David Clarkson's contract, but Ottawa just takes the Eriksson contract essentially out of the goodness of their hearts? There is absolutely no benefit to Ottawa just taking Eriksson's contract for nothing. Same with Edmonton and Sutter's contract. The compensation has to work both ways.
