I'd love for the Flames to get Ferly back at that contract. I also think there's a market for Stone somewhere for at least a fifth round pick if we retain around what the buyout costs ($1M). There should be a taker for Stone at $2.5M for one year. Anaheim has 1 NHL RHD under contract (but may not want to help us out), or perhaps Detroit would pay a low pick for him, give him ice time to prove he's recovered from the blod clot, and flip him at the deadline for a better pick. I also though Florida would be a good spot for him, but then they gave Stralman a ton of money.

I think the Ferly deal only really works if there is mutual interest and teams are a little scared away from a bigger deal because of his concussions over the past couple seasons. Might be willing to do a prove me deal. Would definitely be optimal if the flames could move Stone in a similar deal to what a buyout would look like, though still not sure if that exists. Might be able to fit on a 3rd pair somewhere, though I don't know if teams would be willing to give up an asset vs. just waiting for him to be bought out and getting a better price. Depending if the flames make a whole lot of moves they could potentially hold onto him too as a 7th dman if they have the space, and just use that cap space next year for other raises. Buyout is definitely a last resort.
