You don't need to give up nearly as much in the NYR trade

As a Ranger fan I would take the trade even without the 2 picks. You guys definitely get the better players in that trade but we need the cap space. It’s a win-win for both teams

I would always rather overpay a little on here. I originally had just the 3rd and not the 5th. And then I felt like I might as well add at late-ish rounder in as the cherry on the top. I updated to just a 5th, no 3rd. I'd rather people say that's a little bit of an overpayment instead of making your trade request seem like your the biggest moron on this site.

Yup. People can be brutal on here which is ridiculous because none of us know what we’re doing and this whole GM mode is to kick around crazy ideas anyway.

Question... why is Melker and Sorensen included in so many of these trades on here? Is it a cap space thing, rookies pushing them out of spots or have they fallen out of favor with fans/management? What little Sharks games I’ve watched I thought they were both good players

Melker is a 4th liner making $2M. Hes a great asset on the PK, but his offensive upside is limited. So yes, it's pretty much a way to potentially save $1+M by replacing him with an ELC.

I hadn't really started throwing the idea of trading Sorenson around until today actually. Hes going to get you 30 - 35 points on a decent contract. But he's streaky and also replaceable by some of the rookies we have waiting for their opportunity. He also completely disappeared in the playoffs, so some people can have some recency biased opinions instead of looking at the big picture for how he was during the regular season. He's not exactly a PP option, and he doesnt do much work on the PK either, so hes pretty much just a 5 on 5 only guy, so that could be another reason.

Trading Sorensen is just foolish. He is on a fantastic contract for what he brings. But that is quite the overpayment for the Sharks.
