Marner is gonna be a headache at 10, don’t think he deserves to be BASICALLY the 2nd highest paid winner give or take

I think for the next 2-3 years you are correct. When year 4-6 come I think it will be a very valuable contract. Assuming he is still producing/they make it further in the post season.

I think this deal is term friendly on Marner's side while making the Leafs feel like they win for not dishing out "Matthews money".

Unless he becomes a stud than yes I agree, that’s why bridge deals should be more utilized or at least accepted by agents. Yes you’re not securing the bag, you’re not getting your man a ton of cash but you’re not “screwing over” your team. It may sound biased but as a Sharks fan timo Meier did the perfect move, took a decent payday but 4 years, giving himself room to show his worth while still making money and still a RFA after (big luck struck by Doug), but also Labanc 1 mil 1 year performance bonus filled, that’s an amazing and crazy (for Labanc) contract, once again betting on himself, which I wish plays did than get lazy, not to knock the leafs but Nylander sat out basically a half season and his play dipped as a result decreasing his value or at-least his allure and as a result also making him currently not worth his contract, I’d be happy if I was a leafs fan with marner at 8.5 for 3 (Aho because I personally think so is better) for wouldn’t be mad at 9-9.5 for 4 max
