Description
Just what i think would be best for next seasons rangers. The kreider trade would happern at this seasons deadline and would be the last futures trade. The draft is deep this year so having two firsts is great and its best to use all the other picks rather than trade them. In the summer Georgiev would be packaged with Skjei to get kapanen. Kapanen would be a pretty good upgrade on the line with Panarin and strome since fast is currently in the RW spot and isnt very good offensively. I think the trade is fair as toronto needs left defensemen as well as a goalie and Kapanen would probably want to be in the top six on a regular basis which he can get with the rangers and not with Toronto. Kakko shifts to LW which he played for nearly his entire career in Liiga so he shouldnt have a problem. Deangelo shifts to the left which he played all of his junior career so he should be fine as well which helps with the depth on the left side. Strome will probably get 6 million in the summer which is fair since hes on pace to have around 70 points this year, 6 million is still cheap for a 70 point center considering hayes got 7 million and is a 55 point center at best. yeah hayes as ufa but strome will be in 1 year as well. Tony D is still an rfa for a few seasons which brings down his ask so 6 million for a 60 point defensemen is fair too. he is on a 68 point pace this year. andersson is essentially a throw in in the Toronto deal toi give them more incentive to let kapanen go. Kapanen is 23 and on a 50 point pace in a third line roll so I cant imagine Toronto giving him up easily.

Seems like an overpay for Kapanen. Thought Skjei was good?

It is an overpay. Everyone though Skjei was going to be the next Mcdonagh, gets a ton of hate for no reason.

I figured they wouldn’t want to give up a rising player for a backup goalie and a struggling prospect which is why I added Skjei, adding a pick coming back with Kapanen could probably make it more even, wether that would be a 3rd or a 2nd I’m not sure but I doubt Toronto does the trade if it’s just georgiev and Lias

Think they would and if they wouldn’t I’d add like a 4th not skjei

Well there are reasons he gets hate, he’s like jake gardener as a comparison, pretty good dman it’s just the errors he makes are so bad it makes it seem like he sucks, I felt it was a bit of an overpay but in today’s nhl I can’t see anyone parting with a young rising player like kapanen for cheap, again 50 point pace on the third line, Andersson is young but his upside is limited, georgiev is good but again a backup goalie for kapanen? Georgiev may be better than a backup but he will be a backup in Toronto, So that’s why Skjei is included, a pick coming back with Toronto probably makes this fair, or a better 4th loner than smith
