Jeff Petry is underrated. He is worth more than that. He regularly plays 25 minutes and racks up 40+ points, still young, another year signed at a decent price. That's not enough return.

As far as the Girard trade, that's an insult for the Avs. Byron is on a terrible contract, so it's tough to trade him anyway. McNiven is barely playing in the AHL and has not proven he can even play in the NHL. And a 4th rounder... that's... that's nothing. It would be Tatar for Girard, maaaaaybe.
