Cap space to sign Hall and to inject youth into their ancient D Core. And whether you're in denial or not, this team isn't a playoff contender. Have you noticed the make and miss playoffs pattern.

I would trade Giordano to create the cap space. Tkachuk is going to better for longer and cheaper than Hall and is our future captain. Our d-core is hardly ancient. We have Hanifin, Valimaki and Andersson as our future top 3. By future I mean next year. We can keep Hamonic for a year or two until Kylington, Yelesin or somebody else emerges as a 4-5 d-man. Then you have easily a top 10 d-core for 3-6 years. If Talbot continues to play like this and Bennett is emerging as the player he was supposed to be rather than just on a hot streak this team could win the Cup. It would be hard and they'd be underdogs but it possible. People forgot that a little over a year ago this was the second best team in the NHL and the team in front of them was one of the greatest of all time.
