I understand what you're tryong to do here. And while some of it kinda makes sense, I don't think it'd be the way to go for the Habs. Food for thoughts:
1- Goudreau is a smurf and Habs lineup is full of them. YES, they need a scoring winger big time, but the guy need to be bigger than a Pee Wee AA forward. Also, that trade is an overpayement by the Habs. One of Poehling or Brooks would have to stay in Mtl + Flames should give back a mid-draft pick (3rd rounder?).
2- Yes, Habs need a QB / left shot on the PP. But whit the emergence of Chiarot + the hopes placed in Romanov + Kulak who played pretty darn well the last few weeks... I dunno, maybe that left shot is not a d-man, but a forward that could play the point?
3- Why trade away assets for down-the-road picks when those players are actualy valuable to your team? Petry is the perfect #2-3 d-man, IMO. He's above-average defensively and almost Elite in passing, transition and zone entries. Why not sign him instead of signing Pietrangelo to a huge contract?
