If there was a guy from the Jets I would target, it's Ehlers 100%
Laine not good

To the Bjork part? There is a metric ton of talk about that coming from two of the more plugged in guys in Oiler media, I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss it.

Yeah I completely disagree with that. The shot and offensive instincts that he has + the fact he would be playing with Connor would see him score 50 without doubt.

I like Ehlers too, would be pumped if the Oilers landed him, but given the choice between them I think Laine is the better player

It better not happen and just be a rumor. Bad deal for Boston.

This isn't NHL 20. Sniper + Playmaker doesn't mean automatic goals

Way I think of it:
McDavid is poor in his own end. He is exceptional is the offensive zone. How can we fix that? By getting players around him that can battle along the boards and keep the puck in the offensive zone, like Ehlers.

Laine is a stationary sniper that is just as poor at defense as McDavid. It won't go very well. Same reason why McDrai didn't work.

No **** sherlock. Its also not a league where you can look at a stat sheet and think that tells the whole story. If you think McDavid himself is a bad defensive hockey player you clearly dont know what you're talking about. The guy is having to carry a line entirely by himself, usually in both ends of the ice, we have horrendous goal tending and an iffy blue line, no **** his defensive numbers are going to be bad. However when he's played on lines where he isnt the only player on the line capable of scoring goals, he doesnt have to fly the zone as often or try to do so much himself defensively.

What planet are you living on where McDrai didnt work? They were the best line in hockey for the better part of two calendar years until it got to the point where they were starting to break down because they were playing 26 minutes a night because no other forward line was trusted to do more than tread water. Once they got split up guess what happened? Leon's defensive numbers got better because he was playing fewer minutes and with the other two forwards on the team that didnt suck. McDavid after the split struggled in his own end but that tends to happen when you're playing with Zack Kassian and Josh Archibald.

Battling along the boards requires nothing but willingness, let the Kassians of the world do that, as of now those are the ONLY style of players that McDavid gets to play with, if there is an opportunity to get him a shooter like Laine you take it.

I have no reason to think it hasn’t been talked about but I feel like I’ve seen the Bjork- Chiasson swap over and over and as B’s fan I cannot wrap my head around it. BOS doesn’t have a surplus of LWs and a huge need for RWs. They have guys to fill those roles. I can see Bjork for an upgrade or LHD. Chiasson is bigger/more physical but has one year to UFA and is more expensive.

McDavid is a bad defensive player, even with Drai or Nuge on his line, but his incredible offense is so much ahead of everyone else that he still is the best player in the NHL.
McDrai didn't work because they always leaked more goals than they scored.
Kassian does not do it very well. He needs someone like Brendan Gallagher. Again, this isn't NHL 20, this is real life. Playmaker + Shooter =/= instant chemistry. There's a lot more to hockey than offense

What is mental impediment do you have thats causing you to think McDrai "didnt work" again, they were the best line in hockey for like two years

I meant specifically this season

(5v5)
McDavid with Draisaitl: 48.57 GF%
McDavid w/o Draisaitl: 56 GF%
Draisaitl w/ok McDavid: 57.38 GF%

Both McDavid and Draisaitl were better without each other than with each other.
