Personally, I wouldn't trade Draisaitl for MacKinnon. I'm in the minority thinking MacKinnon is a bust, despite his performance at the World Cup. Sure, he played very well when surrounded by other superstars, but great players are great no matter who they play with. He is almost 4 full seasons in and has yet to crest 25 goals, which is highly concerning imo. He is a very good player, but I think the comparisons to Crosby were wrong and if he's not an 80 point player by year 5 he likely is never going to be. No doubt he is a very good player, but for a #1 overall pick with the pedigree he had, I've expected so much more.

Playing almost 4 full seasons by age 21 in the league is something special which is why I still believe he has the talent and potential to turn into a perennial 70 point guy even if he caps out around 30 goals. I agree he is no Crosby and it's unrealistic to expect that of him. Plus the Oilers have their Crosby in McDavid so I think MacK would fit in well. I also wanted to see another option for the Oilers that didn't involve a RNH trade.

I agree that MacKinnon is set to break out and be a star in this league. However, I also agree he is going to need help to get those kind of point totals. Draisaitl on the other hand, I think is going to need less help getting those totals and being #2 to McDavid is posed to get more help so I'd keep Draisaitl over Mackinnon.
