    How about instead of Detroit screwing themselves over with another awful contract, they dish him out at the deadline for a couple picks?

    Hey everyone can have their own opinion and I can respect that but just amazed so many Wings fans want to continue down this same path as the GM put them on. Getting good quality players and utilizing their ELCs is the way to go imo not trading for and signing new high priced contracts.

    Not sure if you see how much cap space is up there....around $15M. You're getting rid of E and Kronwall's contracts, and trading away Dekes. Vanek is one guy I am okay over-paying for. Not the overrated, over-valued and overpaid "studs" Holland likes to hand out loyalty contracts to (Abby, Howard, Luke, Deke). I would personally be ecstatic if Holland went anywhere close to this route.

    I think the wings should definitely look at resigning vanek but there's no reason to over pay because he could also be traded for picks and prospects. I would try to sign him for $4 mil per year ... $4.5 mil max
