They get playoff experience guys and a big Center who can take Jenner's place, plus when Plekanec's contract ends after next season they gain a ton of cap room to resign Atkinson and Murray. Jenner and Johnson will be RFAs too at that time and they wouldnt be able to sign them

Montreal would lose out on a great puck moving defenseman who is really starting to feel his prime. Also, they take in a terrible defenseman in jack Johnson. Columbus gets a great prospect and a lovely 2017 first rounder. However, acquiring Plekanec would set them back in my opinion, unless a change of scenery benefits both parties.
