Not bad, could upgrade on the 3LW and 4LW

I would say sign Cizikas instead of Luke

Reinhart is about $2->$2.5m too much, plus instead of an Offer Sheet, I am sure they could give up some of their younger assets to bring him over with a pick or 2, not give away draft pick assets come trade deadline day... Really don't see Landeskog leaving Colorado, although this is a great deal and would be incentive enough, I bet he re-signs for $1-$1.5m less on the same term or longer, but agian great idea and fair deal.. I don't care for Glendening for $2m, if he were $1m maybe $1.25 then I can see it being worth it, but I would much rather somebody who does a little more and is a bit more established if you're giving $2m to a 4th liner(somebody like Brandon Sutter or Cizikas).. And, I understand Smith had a great bounce back year, but to bring him back with Bernier to platoon, it's not worth the 2 years of Bernier, when you could bring Koskinen back for 1 year and go big fish hunting next off season for a No 1 goalie....

I was thinking the same. Defaulted to buying out Koskinen in order to see what cap space would look like. There are some issues with keeping Koskinen, and signing 3 forwards (a LW, a C/LW, and a depth C), and resigning Larsson. Koskinen's contract becomes a hindrance. But I like your analysis. Cizikas would be great but will need incentive to leave the Isles. My guess is the price will be too high while signing a Glendening from a distant playoff team will cost less. I would be concerned with trading for Reinhart due to the high asking price (Holloway, Puljujarvi, and a 1st, tough to see one go let alone both). I see giving up three DP right now in an uneasy Draft Year as an easier pill to swallow. Especially when you factor in the long maturing process Holland likes. Those picks are 3-4 years away while keeping Holloway, Puljujarvi, and adding Reinhart keeps the team competitive during the Drai/McD window.

I wish we could easily fix the goaltending issue with a trade like Koskinen and Samorukov/etc. for Kuemper .... but, alas, it seems unlikely.

My humble opinion would be to address the 3rd LW with a trade deadline acquisition when the contracts are mostly paid out and less of the cap is eaten up. Current team should put them in a "buying" position in the standings before needing to overpay for a big body with skill.

I don't think it would take that much to get Reinhart tbh, if they dealt Reinhart I would assume they'd like to get a NHL ready player, a prospect and an earlier draft pick.. Edm has a little influx of NHL ready D men so maybe one of Jones, Bear, Lagesson, Samorokov plus a Savoie(not Lavoie) and next years first might be able to get something done, contingent on a sign and trade for Reinhart to be in Edmonton more than the RFA years he has left... I get the thought process with Glendenning, but $2m is a bit too much, if the Oilers give that much to a 4th line player I could see somebody with a bit more playoff/NHL pedigree would be the ideal candidate, that's why I have Brandon Sutter(AB boy himself) as a dark horse to land in Edmonton, maybe even bring in Derek Ryan from Calgary... I'm def not opposed to Koskinen being bough out, it's minimal $$ for this and next year, frees up about $3m this year too, I'd rather buy him out than Neal TBH, because it's less $$ and years of dead money, But I do feel there will be a couple teams out there looking for a solid backup goalie, and should the Oilers even retain $1-$1.5m of his deal, they get out of the dead money next year and still save $2.5->$3m this season too, while maybe gain another tradeable asset in the process(like a mid to late round pick), then with that money and a few extra $$ laying around you can try target a Grubauer or Ullmark(would rather one of these 2 than Dreidger, as they've been NHL regulars for longer than Dreidger so more of a proven history) to help sort out the goaltending situation, keeping in mind there are a couple good up and comers in the farm system and I am not talking about Stuart, Rodrigue and the new Russian goalie(drawing a blank for his name right now) that would be more so earmarked for the future between the pipes...

Well, you do know your pipeline. There was an interesting article on The Athletic that mentioned a trade to Buffalo would not include a defensive prospect as they have too many as is. I don't think Savoie would be sufficient. He's a good story but Buffalo would have to play hardball and request more or better quality. Savoie is a great prospect coming from the 4th round. Glendening at less would be ideal. I hope a trade would be possible for Koskinen and retaining salary is definitely an option. I, unfortunately am not a believer in keeping RNH staying. He has not been a driver of play in the last two seasons so anything starting with a 6 is too much, in my fictitious opinion. Ryan or Sutter works for me!! Ryan drives play better than Sutter, but Sutter at $1.75 is great, and both are great on either bottom lines. I think Ullmark will be available but Grubauer is too valuable to COL, don't think he will leave a contending team.

Read that article in the Athletic, didn't care much for it, it seemed a bit more far fetched. And realistically any trade with Buffalo-whether it be the out there idea for Eichel, or for Reinhart, I wouldn't be opposed to adding Yamamoto in a deal, with him in there they may not have to give up too many other high picks, maybe say Yamamoto, Savoie and 2nd for Reinhart, that could be helpful, but leaves Buff with next to NO C...
