if his cap hit and neck surgery is that much of a risk, why trade for him? are you not wasting assets if he might not recover from neck surgery properly? add 10 mill plus in cap for the next 5 years, does that not handicap your team? why take the risk for trading him if its that much of a concern?

For starters i'm not the one trading for him lol. Secondly his value decreases because of the risk. I never said he wasn't worth the risk of trading for him just not worth a Dach, Suzuki, Zegras, Byfield type of player on top of 4 other pieces

so if that is the case, the risk is there, but risk means high payoff and high loss. so buffalo will trade based the high payoff a teams going to get from trading eichel. by saying his neck injury and contract is a such a huge concern that he won't fetch a huge price is contradictory. in fact if that is the case, than buffalo will keep him for 1 more year and let him raise his value. but they aren't going to undersell him.

They aren't waiting to trade him. They will take the best offer available. Which will probably still be a pretty sick return, just not one that will include a future 1c plus. Time will tell though. Hopefully you remember this converstaion when you see the return lol

Yes, but not that much. And in my opinion, Eichel is not a top 5 center man.

That’s fine. But the Sabres believe he is and should absolutely ask for a return from a divisional rival that is worthy of that. This isn’t about being fair or realistic. It’s about the Sabres not wanting Eichel in the division unless it’s an absolute haul

Yes, but there is a fine line between a absolute haul, and a huge overpay. If you are asking Suzuki, and Caufield, you will be the team that keeps Eichel and doesn’t trade him. That’s ridiculous. Yes a division rival needs to pay more, but not that much.

You just said that keeping Eichel is ridiculous.

No I meant asking for that much is ridiculous. You will see if you read the last sentence.
