Description
I know people will jump on the Columbus trade as it’s not enough but really oilers are offering up a former first rounder that’s very good defensive middle six forward just to rent Roslovic for the remainder of the year fully expecting him to return to Columbus.
Arizona deal is pretty straight forward they get two cheap depth bodies to plug in roster for next year.
Islanders trade can’t take credit for it but do like the idea just depends heavily if smith plans to play next year and if chara is willing to finish out the season in the west. I think he wanted to stay in the east but might be willing to come since it’s more towards the end of season and a lot of the extra travel in the west is done.

If columbus trades jack, it means his time is done there. The organization will do everything they can to get him to succeed. If he is traded it means they have given up and its time to move on. Based on that, this trade doesn't provide enough value to move on from him.

Who’s to say that’s it for him? Rent him out for a couple weeks/months gain a young middle six forward for the trouble.

How are we renting Roslovic? He’s a RFA, so we would have to trade him back if we were renting which makes no sense! Neither team does that trade.. there is no way.

Don’t qualify him let him become ufa and sign back with Columbus. Next season Bourgault or Lavoie or Holloway could take on that roster spot. Honestly be very surprised if yam is resigned nothing really against the player but turn over happens.

Yah we shouldn’t do that. Yamamoto will be resigned.. he is a very good defensive forward, just needs to find the back of the net. He won’t be traded, and won’t get let go in my opinion. The staff, and players like him too much. If we did this trade that you proposed, we would lose Yamamoto for nothing, which is not smart. We should not do this in my opinion.

Let's say this is the case, why would you return to a team that didn't want to commit to you 3 months ago. Not to mention there have been a lot of games recently where he is getting 10 minutes or less of ice time. We should add Kent Johnson next year which would push him further down the playing time list. No chance he is interested in that. If he leaves, he isnt coming back.

When you trade for a rental that means it’s a lost asset no different than if it was draft capital or prospect. Using yam avoids negotiating a new deal with him which if remember last time that dragged out into the season. I get he’s good defensively but wouldn’t a bigger body defensive forward be more effective in that type of role?
