New Sabres Regime Gets Bold, Shakes Things Up (4/23/17)

Created by: finchj15
Team: 2017-18 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 23, 2017
Published: Apr. 23, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Certain trades may need to be added to but the Sabres do have the assets to do so. This is just the beginning of some ideas.

Nicklas Lidstrom becomes President of Hockey Operations and brings a winning culture and educated oversight to a team in need.

Jason Botterill becomes GM after having success in the Penguins' organization.

Defensive mind Phil Housley becomes Head Coach

Vanek deal helps get above the cap unitl next year. He may take the one year deal because of how lucrative it is.

At least one of Baptiste, Carrier, and Bailey is bound to breakout next season.

Petersen signs as he will be on NHL roster after 1 year in AHL.

Sabres will walk into the following offseason with roughly 30 million in cap space.

Nashville has all the pieces they need, why break it up by trading Josi who's on a very team friendly contract? Also, Slavin was the Hurricanes best defender this year, why trade him out of the surplus they have?
