Description

Not sure if this would be possible. Dadanov wouldn’t be eligible to play for the remainder of the season and the Canucks would have to run a 21 man roster.

Obvious benefit being Canucks re-enter 2nd round and could flip Dadanov with retained salary in the off-season to gain another asset for the retool

dont see the benefit of this

we are already cap constraint and we are taking on another 5mil cap hit

Well if I was GM I would spend next year re-tooling and would aim to be below the cap so I could take on an expiring contract at the deadline. Even after retaining 50% and flipping Dadonov that would be a net cap gain after moving Ferland, as well as turning a 4th round pick into a 2nd rounder and getting whatever a $2.5M Dadonov fetches

It's an interesting deal, but I don't see them doing it. Wasn't part of clearing out the cap space that they did about putting Halak's bonus on this year's cap hit?

Besides, I say Vegas made their bed, now let them wallow in it.
