That seems like a fair trade that Ottawa would accept. I'm curious from a Minnesota fan perspective, what would need to be added to throw Dumba in the trade as well?

So is that 2023 pick completely unprotected? If so, it doesn’t seem realistic from OTTs perspective. And if it is, then this is a pretty underwhelming return for MN, especially with the 2nd thrown in.

yes it would be unprotected. I figured a prospect that was drafted top 10 a year ago and a long shot at a lottery pick for bedard would be worth it

this is my unprofessional opinion, but i would say maybe an extra prospect or 2nd round pick with what i have now. Probably something like fiala and dumba for two picks in the first two rounds and a prospect. But I am not sure, I haven't seen a lot of fiala and dumba packages

Yeah I just don’t think OTT throws out a 2023 unprotected 1st. That would be catastrophic if it ended up being Bedard or Michkov. Their fans would be justifiably livid.

And if it’s protected, even top 3, that’s not a package I’m jumping for joy over as a wild fan. Boucher was a massive reach at the time and is trending down.

I'm not too worried about the pick being unprotected. Ideally if you're adding Fiala and possibly Dumba, then the team shouldn't be finishing in the bottom 10. People also have to consider that Minnesota is not in a position where they can negotiate with a lot of power. They're in a serious cap crunch and Fiala just had a career year. They need to trade salary. There aren't many teams that have the cap space to just trade no salary back to the Wild.

As for throwing Dumba in, Ottawa could offer up Tampa's 2nd round pick and one of our goalie prospects. Probably Mandolese. Or since you need a backup goalie and it's unlikely that Fleury will re-sign, we could send Gustavsson and a 3rd round pick instead. What are your thoughts?
