Description

What can happen with Kane's grievance:

1. SJ win and termination is upheld
2. Kane wins and termination is overturned, SJ owe him the balance of his contract ($7M minus new AAV x 3 years)
3. Kane wins his grievance and his rights and contract revert entirely back to the Sharks.
- if option number 2 with Kane happens the oilers can sign him to a dirt-cheap contract since he will already be getting paid 7mill per year. And Evander Kane has stated that the oilers are the best team he has played for, so he would likely take a cheap deal if option 2 were to occur.

The other best-case scenario for the Oilers would be smith and Keith retiring. Keith retiring would give much more cap space and the oilers would receive an extra 3 mill to spend above the cap floor.
