So many questions:
1/ you are still $1.1M over the cap, what gives?
2/ in what works would chykrun get traded straight up for zaitsev 🤯?
3/ why is anyone assuming SENs will spend to the cap? They haven’t for years and I doubt they can now

1) The point is that even with a bunch of optimistic assumptions, there is no way the Sens could afford to sign Stutzle long term after the upcoming season.
2) I assume picks and prospects would be included. I have no idea what picks and prospects would be agreeable to both teams.
3) They are going to be within $4M of the cap this season. The owner always said they would spend when they had the opportunity to contend.

The ultimate point of all this is that I think Stutzle has to sign for one year, and then sign an extension in Jan 2024. The Sens have $5.6M reduction in dead money coming in 2024-25, and the cap is supposed to go up another $1M, so that money would be used for the rest of Stutzle's raise, and for Sanderson's raise. But they have to get through the crunch of 2023-24 first.

Personally I doubt the Chychrun trade happens. I think it's more likely that the team goes with what they have, and buys out the last year of Zaitsev's deal next summer.
