Why are we trading Bo? There is no benefit in trading our captain who wants to win with this team; the only way it makes sense is if we get an overpayment in a trade for him

We extend him, say 6.5M Cap hit. With Miller and Pettersson, that's 21.85M for centers. A year more and you have to pay Pettersson atleast another Million dollars annually. 23M for 3 centers alone?

2 firsts? (Chesley seems like what the Canucks would get from a late first) Not an overpayment, but fair. Also 2.5M in Cap flexibility? Worth another 2nd maybe?

That's not even bad if they are all high-quality guys, it makes no sense to trade any of them, especially when we arent getting a good nhl ready player back

Fair value is not a reason to trade Horvat. They can afford to keep him next year. If they need cap spend picks on cap dumps

We need to win, and trading horvat is not the way to do that unless we're getting a proven top 4 right shot defensemen and more

In 2 years Chesley's ELC is gonna help us more than a 7.5M 3C

"2 years" its the same garbage as we're two years away from being good, our stars are gonna get fed up with only making the playoffs once in a decade, Horvat is not the guy to trade and this isnt a good package if we were to trade him. Even if Horvat was playing 3rd line centre, and there's nothing saying he would be bc both Miller and Petey can play the wing, he'd still be #1 Powerplay and be playing more than a traditional 3rd line center.

Devils probably accept if they're sellers but I wouldn't make that assumption quite yet

I'd be pretty surprised if the devils were sellers at the TDL this year, I feel they'll be in the battle for a playoff spot at that time

I highly doubt Horvat makes 7.5 and our “3C” is a 30 goal scorer. Let’s not act like he’s some useless grinder

He isn't. He's an amazing player. Assuming we keep him, the Canucks have, by far and wide, the best center depth in the league. But like having a team of 18 McDavid's but a scarecrow as a goalie isnt gonna win you championships. The canucks could keep Horvat, or trade him for something that better suits their needs

This doesn’t suit there needs though. They need a D man to play with Hughes. We all saw the Miller contract. They want to win now. They don’t want “nice pieces in 3-4 years” they want a player to win for them. This doesn’t get you that

Yeah, but we have a salary cap. And yes, team like Toronto have found success (lol maybe they haven't) with having a few, highly paid, stars. I dunno if the canucks have that kind of star power. With OEL Poolman, basically filling the rest of our slots with league minimum like contracts might not be the best option for us. Lekkerimaki is the only ELC we can look forward to, no garuntee there either. Chesley will be a solid RD in a few years. Someone like Rodriguez who can play 3C at less than 3.5M would be valuable to us. Im not against keeping Horvat, I love the guy. But by keeping Miller, we have some toigh decisions to make

What if it was to, say, Columbus for Andrew Peeke and a 1st, with Poolman dump. Not saying I have any reason to believe Columbus would do that, just asking
