Possible NYR trade + Couple new D men

Description
NYR Get an fairly NHL ready D man, high end prospect and picks. I kept trying to plug Kylington in there instead of Kulak cause I don't want to give him up but I think that would be the only way to acquire Hayes. Raanta is not my first choice for a goalie but I think any deal with NY would include him because of the expansion draft. He would have one year to prove hes a starter or he can walk and the goalie hunt begins all over again. Not ideal.
---Not a huge fan of the bottom pairing but with Kulak gone I don't see anyone internally that could step up and fill a role quite yet.
------I don't think it is crazy that Vegas will take both those guys, there are rumblings about Stajan already and Bouma is young enough to fit in with that group long term if he performs.
--- Crucial to have enough money to pay Backlund, Hayes and Jankowski next year. Couple contracts off the books and Raymonds buyout is done I think that this sets up okay for that!
-Critique is more than welcome especially from Ranger fans, I know there was a comment from them on another post that Dougie would have to be involved to fetch Hayes, that's not realistic on this end at all I don't think.

I think there needs to be a bit more coming from the Flames for both of those, but I like where your head is at.

Would you say that is as simple as bumping up those picks, or do you think that more assets need to go back the other way ie. Klimchuck, Mangiapane, Pollock?

I don't think that NYR will give up a young NHL starter and a potential starting goalie for two D-Men that have not played more the a quarter of a season.

Kulak could have been our 5th or 6th D man all year. That isn't a role that Calgary wants him in though he got a ton of reps as a 1 or 2 in Stockton, he was also buried under Wideman, Engelland and Bartkowski who are much more suited for the bottom pairing. I would go out on a limb and say he was our 4th best D man this year if given the opportunity. As for Shinkaruk, he's a winger with a high ceiling, could fight for a spot out of camp and possibly slot in this year.

Vegas isn't doing that deal. People are under-estimating how much bargaining power they have going into expansion. Will cost a good deal more, especially to take Bouma. Can expect a pick and a prospect, and when that's the price, it's better to try to include Brouwer (retained) instead. At least Stajan can have a reasonable role on the bottom line in CGY.

NYR is going to ask for much more in that deal. They have some leverage since losing Raanta to expansion would save them losing a roster forward (Fast, Lindberg, Grabner, etc.). They seem to highly value Hayes as well. Can expect they'd ask for a Mangiapane type plus a Gillies type (instead of Shinkaruk).

Don't like the Franson price, especially since I personally don't think he's the best fit to play with Brodie. Would much rather look at veteran guys who might not be re-signed by their team (Campbell, Oduya) instead of Weber. Kinkaid is a no-thanks....would rather Johnson or even Gillies instead.

Solid feedback, let me ask you then, are the Flames better off pursing Nino and Grubauer? When it is all said and done it would probably cost little less.
