Description

This is a scenario where Jarry is not re-signed and (hopefully new) management goes with a cheaper veteran goalie in Varlamov on a one-year deal and cheaper backup in Rittich. Between January 2024 and the Trade Deadline, the idea would be to find another goalie to be the probable go-to in the playoffs. Maybe Gibson in Anaheim becomes available or an improved Demko is dangled by Rutherford and Allvin.

- Zucker gets a deal that matches Rust. There are no better alternatives for what he brings to his team.
- The bottom-six is filled with younger players on better contracts. Puustinen can start as the trigger man for Granlund and maybe gets bumped up to Malkin's line at some point. Maenalanen and his big frame are welcomed.
- Graves is the big get in Free Agency and bolsters the top-four.
- Let a camp battle play out between Joseph and Smith again. Maybe one can be used as a piece in a future trade.
