It looks like potentially the cap could be raised to $87m for next year if the NHL generates enough revenue through the rest of this year and playoffs. I'm hoping one of Krejci or Bergeron re-sign, if not then they sign a veteran center at a similar cap hit. Beecher or one of the other plethora of young centers wins the 4th line job.

I believe the Bruins can potentially fit the $4.5m performance bonuses into the 2022-2023 cap if they end up having Hall, Foligno, or Forbort on the Long Term IR at the end of this season. Does anyone know for sure? I read about it and the bonuses don't carry over if they can fit them under the cap this year and LTIR might be the answer but I'm not sure exactly how that works.

The only way the cap goes up, as Bettman said at his press conference, is if the players pay in more than the 6% they're currently paying. I don't think that will happen and if it does, it won't jump to $87mil. No way you cut it, the Bs are looking at a very different team next year.

Bergeron comes back before Krejci. Kuntar is not making the jump to the NHL, if you're picking a young C to play 4C, it's Beecher. Merkulov is not a 4th line player, if he makes it to the NHL next year, which I think he might, he plays 3LW/C or 2LW/C.

The article says if enough revenue is generated this year to pay off the debt then the cap goes to $87m without any change in the 6%. It says the increase in the 6% is a 2nd option to potentially increase the cap. I'm really not sure if Bergeron or Krejci will re-sign but I'm hoping one of them will. Krejci really likes playing with Pasta so I was thinking him but it could be Bergeron. The 4th line center will definitely have competition. I agree I like Merkulov's potential a lot and he could end up in a 3rd line role, they just seem to start these young guys on the 4th line and then move them up if they are playing well.
