If one year then cup, then why sign Markov?

Why not sign Alzner for a little bit cheaper and longer term. I would only sign Markov if I was trying to win this year.

markov is a puck moving defenseman kind of a spot filler and lets him retire on montreal. and im not exactly sure what alzner would want, this makes it easier to resign price next year

if his minutes are limited then yes, he still can be an effective puck-moving defenseman. I just wouldn't pay him almost 4 million just to retire with Montreal.

I think Alzner would want about 2.5-3MIl

Markov wants to stay in Montreal for the rest career sign him for 1 year at a low contract because he will accept or retire (but I don't think he is ready to retire yet).

it would be hard to have alzner benn and markov, and this is assuming davidson leaves
