Why does everyone think the Leafs will be better by trading away a 100 point Selke nominated forward in their prime? Have a look at the first 7 years of players like Stamkos, McKinnon etc. etc. Most players coming into the league don’t win cups right away. It takes time and patience to put all the pieces together.

I'm not a Leafs fan. I could care less what's good for them

Have you ever watched Stamkos, MacKinnon, etc. etc. play, in the playoffs??? These guys would rip their opponents face off in order to win. They’ve got bite. They elevate their game in the playoffs. They are ‘F’in gamers’. They are everything Marner isnt. 100pts in the regular season & Selke candidate doesnt mean squat. When the playoffs come around, Marner becomes a pure perimeter player who gets pushed around and has ZERO pushback. As a die hard Leafs fan of 30+ years, I wish people like you could see that Marner has absolutely NOTHING on Stamkos, MacKinnon, Crosby, Point, Kucherov, Kane, Toews, Dustin Brown, the list goes on and on. He wont be traded for a bag of pucks, but pleaaaaaaase stop comparing this blob of soft melted butter to the Stamkos and MacKinnons, frankly its embarrassing.

I have watched Stamkos. Tampa won their first cup without him. He was meh this year. Marner was by far the superior player in that series. I’m willing to bet that if Marner had Hedman and Vasi he wouldn’t be talked about like he is. He was over a PPG this year with 14 points in 11 games. He has 47 points in 50 playoff games. I don’t think Mac or Stankos played 50 in their first 7 years.

fact is the dud was 1st team all-star at RW the last 2 years. He had 99 points AND is up for the Selke. You don’t get better trading players like this. You add to them.

Mac is certainly a step above definitely an animal but he wasn’t always. Imagine if Colorado gave up on him before he broke out. How many years did it take him to win a cup???

Toronto is trying to win now. Trading a 99 point Selke finalist in his prime that was a 1st team all-star at RW the last two seasons is not going to make them better. If that sentence was a little long, my apologies, it’s tough to put in all of Marner’s accomplishments in a few words.

From an Avs point of view, yes, yes it is.
