Little less retention would be nice but I’m on board.

Outside of the picks there is nothing of interest here for that amount of retention. The price goes up for a division rival. So this is a very easy pass.

Reality check: you are not going to acquire the best offensive defenseman in the world at a very good cap hit and not feel it at all. This is three players of no impact or worth to Seattle. Get real.

Another irrational and emotionally biased comment by you in regards to Karlsson.

Seattle does seem like a possible destination for him, but Geekie and Ryker just don't meet needs for San Jose.

Dropping them and adding Ty Nelson + changing the 2nd to another first would be closer to the mark I think, especially considering the Driedger cap dump coming along as well (he might be a good goalie, but he's a dump because they Sharks don't need him short term.)

Why? Your bashing me for thinking getting 2 picks this draft, a goalie who i think is primed for a nice rebound and a young D who would have been our #1 d prospect last year and a solid middle 6 young wing. Do you think we’re chasing a cup in the next 2-3 years? Do you think Karlsson will still be a #1 D when we are competitive again?

In a perfect world yes! But this isn’t a bad offer and who he is willing to waive for combined with who can afford him is a thin thin market.

That’s fair, it’s such a hard thing to determine the retention on him but I think if you retain maybe like 2.5M instead that’s fair

That should be perfect Karlsson at 9 mil sounds reasonable after a 100 point season on an offensively weak team, if he was on Seattle he would have had the chance to break records. And the contract ends at 36 which isn’t a bad age for a D man.

Seattle's not in their window yet and they're still building a prospect pool. I don't Karlsson is a good fit for Seattle, especially considering what Seattle would have to give up to get him.
