What's the point of getting OEL if we have Jones.

OEL actually has a history of being okay at defense. Zach Jones is a known defensive liability.

The caps don't need bottom-six scorers, we need top-six scorers, but it's an interesting trade nonetheless I would have to think about it if I were a GM

OEL is actually quite a good defenseman. He’s played on a bad team and still been decent. In a sheltered role he can be a good mentor to jones

That’s pretty different from others perspectives

Lindgren was a very serviceable backup last year on a great value contract for 2 more years. Domingue is an AHL goalie. I will be generous and give you that the 2nd and 3rd are enough to convince the caps to have to go out and spend more money on a probably worse backup.

goodrow is a 30yo 4th liner with 4 more years at 3.6m and a NTC. The caps are trying to compete next year and need as much cap space as possible. They also have a ton of depth and need actual top of the lineup players. That would take at least a 23 1st attached for them to consider taking on his contract.
