Boston isn't retaining any money and we don't want a failed draft pick

Failed draft pick? He’s a 1st rounder just 2 years ago and looked good this year in AHL. We all know Boston trying to free up the Hall money. Look what Nashville got for Ryjo AND retaining 4 mill. Galchenyuk straight up. A top prospect and a 3rd should get it done. Asking the Bruins to retain 1 mill still saves you guys 5 on the cap.

Agree to disagree on the prospect

I think the hall trade works if another team received olausson (who has probably a slightly-above 50% chance of being an NHLer if I’m going to be candid) in return for the retention. The Bruins should not expect much in return for Hall, it’s a pretty obvious cap dump. A 3rd would be good.

The issue is that there is few teams willing to take on retention as a third party right now. The cap ceiling is too low, even for teams that are tanking. They need cap to take on bad contracts.

I did this trade as the Panthers have let it be known that they need a puck moving D man with Ekblad and Montour out long term. Girard is exactly that and you get the Avs best prospect who has put up 30-35 points back to back years playing 3rd and 4th line. With increased minutes that will go up.
