Any Top 6 RWs Available? MIN? NYR? PHI? WPG?

Description
If Calgary can pull off a trade like this, I would be happy. It doesn't necessarily have to be for Niederreiter, but it should be for somebody similar.

This finally gives Bennett some strong linemates to play with: I would expect to see this second line thrive. It also gives Jankowski the chance to make the jump to the NHL without having to play wing or 4th line minutes. He also gets Frolik as his linemate to help groom him. Although Calgary does give up some good pieces, I think that this helps to balance out the roster a lot better.

From Minnesota's perspective, this would probably only work if they have issues signing Niederreiter. I realize that Minnesota values Niederreiter highly, and thus probably wouldn't want to give him up. That said, if the circumstances present themselves, Minnesota wouldn't be getting a terrible deal here. They would be getting a good centre in Backlund, somebody who could help fill and build on the void left by Hanzal. They would also be getting a potential 20 goal winger in Ferland, and a really good young defenseman in Andersson. Add in a former first rounder in Poirier and this seems like a reasonable deal from Minneosta's perspective if the circumstances work.

If Neiderreiter is just flat out unavailable, I would then turn my attention to Mats Zuccarello. Jakub Voracek, or maybe even Blake Wheeler depending on what their various teams try to do. All that to say is that my goal would be to trade a package centered around Backlund for a top 6 RW, preferably Neiderreiter.

That is way too much for the flames to give up. I think Backlund is a lifer on the flames.

So you want to give up:
- one of the best two-way centres in the league (the guy who finished fourth in Selke voting);
- your most NHL-ready defensive prospect;
- Emile Poirer (probably adds zero value to the trade- why would Minny want him?); and
- the rights to the only guy who was able to keep up on the Monny/Jonny line (who is also a fan-favourite),
In exchange for a border-line top line guy who is more likely a second liner, who only marginally outproduced Backlund last year, who does not kill penalties, and who doesn't even have a contract for next year? Not sure how this makes the Flames better.

You forgot to mention how he was drastically overpaying Niederreiter... Almost as much as Mony... Just NO!

You're gonna be paying Backlund close to $6 mil next year anyway. And Niederreiter put up more points than Backlund did, in what was a career year for Backlund. Niederreiter is trending up, whereas I think Backlund has peaked.
