I don't see a big trade as being likely, particularly after Allvin's comments regarding the current trade climate. I see a guy like Howden as a relatively low-cost option for 3C. He isn't a top-shelf 3C, but signing him also leaves the door open for Raty in a year or two. Plus, he's a solid character guy who likes to hit. Keeping Garland and Beau ensures that the forward crop is solid and relatively deep.

I'm surprised that no one is talking about Klingberg as an option for RD. He fits the 'big body' prototype, along with the Swedish one. He was poor in his last season in Dallas, and in the half-season he played in Anaheim - but he was solid for the Wild, by all accounts. His stats bear that out. I think that he is still a strong top-4 option, and a guy who can recover and distribute. Pair him with Hughes, and you insulate Quinn with a guy who can break-out well.
