From what I read online it seems that OTT is considering trading Phaneuf and LAK is interested but the trade can't happen unless OTT retains salary. So could there be a possible three way trade in the making. Picks/prospects would have to be added to even out the two trades below.

I like your thinking. Sell assets and take on some bad contracts for picks, you know, actually rebuild. Doesn't seem to be on Benning's radar though. Dallas just waived Neimi for buyout and that would have been an obvious one right there.
