Opening Night Roster

Created by: Penz87
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 22, 2023
Published: Aug. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is my prediction for lines and pairings game 1 of the season, assuming no further moves are made.

I think they will try DOC in the top 6.
Ty Smith will beat out POJ for 3LD.
I think Johnsson is 13th forward.

Special Teams:
I think they'll put Letang on the left wall with EK65 being QB.
And as for Carter on PP2, I think Sully likes him in the net front. But Idk, to me I would try Acciari.

I think at some point in the season Acciari will get moved up to 3C and Eller will move down. But they have already said that Eller is their 3C to start.

Again, these are just my guesses, and I don't necessarily agree I'm just trying to guess what Sully and co. would do.

They’ve already stated they’re not putting Jake on LTIR.

One of the things that I love about what Dubas has done is add enough depth to create competition. Seems like people are high on Nylander, but he's going to be pushed by Hinostroza and Johnsson, Poulin, and Zohorna. It will be interesting to see Smith and POJ compete, but I think Butcher is a dark horse to win that spot as well. There's also several guys who might be vying for that top six role while Jake is out. This is all so different from last year.

It will also be interesting to see how the PP shakes out. I for one hope they don't take Rakell off the top unit.

You're correct, it just automatically put him on LTIR and I forgot to take him off.

Yeah there definitely will be a lot of internal competition for bottom 6 spots. I'm interested to see how Poulin does. I hope he wins the spot, but if not then I hope somebody shows something promising, whether that's just some chemistry or play driving.

And as for the PP situation, I agree. I want them to let Letang run his own PP and put Rakell on PP1. I mean just imagine you're the opposing team fending off Sid, Geno, and EK65 for 1:15-30 then you have to deal with Letang, R. Smith, and Rust or whoever on PP2. PP2 might score more than PP1 just because they get the easier matchups. You could even switch it up and roll out PP2 to start lol and let PP1 clean up the scraps if they don't score. We have a lot of good options when it comes to the PP this year.

He's certainly expendable this year. Probably don't need to worry about a waiver claim, but if you do send him down and he gets claimed then you have plenty of other options to fill that role.
