Macklin Celebrini (shoot left, Center)
Cole Eiserman (shoot left, Winger)
Ivan Demidov (shoot left, Winger)
Artyom Levshunov (shoot right, Defenseman)
Aron Kiviharju (shoot left, Defenseman)
Close but out of my top 5
Berkly Catton (shoot left, Center)
Sam Dickinson (shoot left, Defenseman)
I think Montreal would draft in order
1. Celebrini
2. Eiserman
3. Demidov
4. Levshunov
5. Catton
6. Kiviharju
7. Dickinson
Reserve list :
I would expect Lane Hutson to sign his ELC at the end of the 2023-2024 season and play a couple games in the NHL (burning one year of his ELC). That’s why he is signed at 2 years 950K
MTL should bring former 2nd round pick Oliver Kapanen over in NA if he has a successful season overseas
I think Adam Engstrom will make the jump in 2024-2025 with the Laval Rocket, from what I heard from the player in interview (he wanted to spend another season ‘23-24’ in Sweden before coming in NA)
Depending how things goes in 2023-2024 in the AHL for Jared Davidson & Miguel Tourigny, I could see them signing their ELC if they performed.
If Jared Davidson does not perform, I would expect Luke Tuch to sign his ELC instead of Davidson
Cedrick Guindon will sign it, but his contract will slide since he will have to go back in the OHL
Players who will expired on the Reserve List :
- Petteri Nurmi (former 7th rd pick in 2022)
- Blake Biondi (former 4th rd pick in 2020)
- Ty Smilanic (former 3rd rd pick by FLO in 2020)
- Maybe Luke Tuch (former 2nd round pick in 2020)
So right now without any move, just by resigning their RFA + resigning Montembeault, MTL have 13 forwards & 8 defenseman signed for the 2024-2025 season
I don’t know for sure what will happen, a lot will depend on the 2023-2024 season Montreal will have.
Couple of things that could happened at the 2024 TDL :
Dvorak traded
Armia traded
I don’t think they will, so in that scenario would MTL trade them in the offseason (2024) ? Maybe buyout Joel Armia ? Will Gallagher be healthy & catch a break ? IMO, Montreal shouldn’t buyout anyone, Montreal have so many guys who gets hurt, like Gallagher, Anderson (tho it isn’t bad like people like to say), Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Slafkovsky, Caufield, Dvorak & Dach. I think Montreal should keep everyone, and when injuries occur, call up the youngsters (Beck, Farrell, Roy, Heineman, Hutson & Reinbacher)
Good breakdown. I hope Savard and Dvorak are traded before the start of 2024-25, and I think they have value, especially with 50% retention. If I had to bet I would say both won’t be here.
Armia will be bought out or included in a trade for a good player as a salary dump. He can’t be on the team to start next year. Shouldn’t be there this year. Every player on the team knows he’s not a part of the future, move on.
We will see what happens with Allen/Primeau/x for the backup position, if Monty works out.
They will trade some of their young players/prospects for top end players, but might not be for 2024/25.

I disagree with Dvorak having positive value
I also disagree with trading Savard. Off course he has value, but we lack RHD, we won’t trade him. He is as well a good vet for this young blue line with Matheson
It’s useless buying out Armia, MTL always have a lot of injuries during the regular season
We’ll see for trading to get high talent, I think this talent will come through the draft
Appreciate the feedback tho
