By not waiving Shea the Pens essentially set their D group. They don’t have room for another defenseman. They did leave the door open to claim a forward, however. Whomever it is would have to be a guy they like more than Zo, who appears to, atm, have won the 13F spot.

Lavoie is 23, 6'4", 215lbs and can shoot. He'd be worth a look. If it doesn't work out it's low risk. I feel like Zohorna was waived yesterday to possibly pick someone up today.

Agreed, re: why Z was waived but remains with the team. Gives them roster flexibility. Also, Pysyk didn’t have a stall in the locker room yesterday but has one today (presumably Friedman’s, who’ll be sent down today if he isn’t claimed). Could mean they intend to sign Pysyk and put him on the SOIR list.
