Why, minimal risk, plenty of cap space remaining. If he doesn't preform on the 4th line, waive him.

He;s not a 4th line type player, so we already know he can't play on the 4th line, which would give us no reason to sign him.

I don't like your trade either. 2015-2016 Perron had 36 points in 71 games. That year a healthy Matt Beleskey had 37 points in 80 games for us. I would not do this trade because if they both play up to their level, Perron is only a half step up from Beleskey. I think we need to give Beleskey a chance to see if his poor play last year was injury related. If we trade him now we're having to give up better assets than we would if we didn't even include him in the deal, so theres no reason to dump him while his value is negative. If he's healthy this year and he's terrible, then we can trade him with something good in exchange for something average. That time has not come yet, so if we move him it's likely to be to a team that actually values him as a player.
