Big moves to be a bubble team in 1-2 years

Description
Sharks will probably finish last and hopefully land that #1 pick- Celebrini. This roster whether it be in 2024/25 or 2025/26 is deep down the middle and I think could be a bubble team.

Even if u allow Smith and Celebrini to play another season in the NCAA, I think u still try and sign 2-3 younger FA/RFA’s to contracts especially with the Cap going up exponentially over the next few seasons and the Sharks having a ton of cap space.

Sharks need a top D man. Hanifin maybe if CGY can’t afford him?

I think Buffalo will have to trade or part ways with one of their Goalies this offseason… UPL would be my guess and I think the Sharks could sign him to 2-3 year deal similar to Blackwood. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Blackwood.. he’s been consistent and keeps the team in games and that’s not easy playing on the worst NHL team.

Vlasic can be bought out or placed on LTIR if he goes down .

All signings are ballpark #’s, obviously even if a guy fetches $1-2M more then what I have here Sharks still have enough space and wiggle room. Nylander will probably be in the $11-13M range .. Hanfin $5-6M .. etc

No sense buying aging players to speed this build up there are nice drafts coming up build a core through the draft and something FAs want to come to and be a part of then buy players for playoffs pushes.

I think you gotta get at least 1 top line Forward and 1 Top D man from FA to solidify the roster for when guys like Smith, Celebrini , etc come to the NHL. Both Nylander and Hanifin are only 26 years old … Sharks don’t need to suck for another several seasons I think in 2 years they will be in the playoff picture with the prospects they’ve got coming in.

Damn I thought hanifin was like 30 that's fair, but I do think 2 more years of top 5 picks would really help create a young dangerous core in San Jose

I agree but they’ve already been really bad since 2020.. that’s almost 4 years now of below .500 hockey. They’ve had solid draft picks the past 3 years and this next draft might land them the #1 pick for the first time ever. I think that’s more than enough rebuilding time to start adding some younger FA pieces asap.

Sorry but Hanifin and Nylander aren't signing with a rebuilding Sharks team. Nylander's price range is 7 x $11,000,000 and Hanifin was already offered 8 x $7,500,000 to remain in Calgary. He's not taking less to go to high tax California.

Okay take away the 1M and transfer it over to Hanifin ? Lmao.. ur point is? Calgary is a **** hole of a city and their arena is the oldest in the league .. there’s a reason Johnny G left along with many other guys . You talk about high Tax California .. how about the high way robbery tax that is Canada .. not to mention it’s turning into an absolute communist country under Trudeau. After the Sharks land #1 Celebrini this year they’re only 2 years removed from becoming a playoff team.. the weather is especially appealing to guys who have played up north. If Nylander wants the most $$ he’s going to sign with a rebuilding team that’s got great up and coming prospects who are a few years away from being a contender. The Sharks are one of those teams. Or he can stay in Toronto for 8x9-10M and make less cuz of tax …
