Not sure why you would trade Lehner for Mrazek? Last year Lehner a GAA of 2.69 and SV% of 0.920 in 59 games and Mrezek had a GAA of 3.04 and SV% of .901 in 50 game. Granted the year before Lehner was hurt and only played 21 games but last year he showed he could be our starting goaltender. It makes no sense to me, not only are you trading him for a worse goaltender but your also giving up a 4th round pick on top of it. That trade really makes no sense to me at all. If you really don’t like Lehner and want to trade him, don’t trade for a goaltender with worse stats unless you’re the one getting the additional picks.

Can't say I like the idea of trading Moulson for MacArthur either. MacArthur when health can be a good player but there is to many health questions with him, ie the concussion history. He has played 4 regular season games in each of the last 2 years and we would be on the hook for another 3 years. Moulson only has 2 years left on his contract. Maybe he can rebound or maybe he’s stuck on the second PP and 3rd/4th line. I hate seeing Moulson on the ice at 5mil per but I don’t think trading him for someone with longer term and bigger health issues is a good idea.

This is a trade from another team i made, not that you'll see this explanation, with Lehner going to arbitration, Botterill may sense an unfavorable ruling and swap him before. Most teams addressed their goaltending issues but DET is still on shakey ground wanting to move Mrazek, who has put up great numbers in the league. Mrazek potentially could cost lest than Lehner as well and has his contract up after the year. Also your befuddled that i traded for a goalie with worse stats but thats completely wrong unless you only compare last year, not only that their are other factors that go into comparing players. I like Lehner, I dont like Lehner at 5 million + per season.

Moulson wont rebound. Take those rose colored glasses off. MacArthur's problems are injuries, at least the Sabres can put him on the shelf. He's a very productive player though and had a great return in the playoffs. I'm not worried about his production

Mrazek was a mess last year, yes the year before he was ok but Lehner still had better numbers once he came from his injury so I still see him as a better goalie. I think Lehner was offered like 3.25 for a qualifying offer and yes he did file for arbitration but normally players don't actually make it to the hearing before signing a contract. I don't see him getting 5+ a year in arbitration so think it will be settled before then.

MacArthur's injury problems consern me specially to risk over 3 more years. I don't think Moulson will rebound either but he is still a serviceable 3rd/4th liner this year and could see the Sabres buying out his last year if he's going to hurt the ability to sign RFA's. Right now we do not have a CAP issue or some dire need to shead his contract. I think, if your adding a player with questionable health with more years at about the same money you hurt the future a lot more.
