Jarnkrok, Brodie and Liljegren are not interesting for Montreal. I can understand that Brodie is there for cap reason but it doesn't seem fair. Remove the garbage and maybe add Knies.
Matheson value is a first and a 2nd. Minten can be consider as a first and Steeves as a 2nd.
Monahan is a first so you have the 2024 first round pick, that's ok.
Savard is a 2nd and a 3rd, you add all the garbage for him.
Plus, Toronto has a tax, Montreal won't help them if the trade is fair for both teams. My suggestion:

Matthew Knies
Alex Steeves
Minten Fraser
TJ Brodie
First round pick in 2024
4th round pick in 2024
For
Sean Monahan
Michael Matheson
David Savard(retained salary)
Pezzetta or a prospect could be add too

We won't trade Knies, but if his value is a 1st and 2nd, would a 1st, Steeves and Hirvonen be fair for Matheson alone? I guess based on this feedback it would be reasonable.

Yeah probably but I mean, just because Toronto is in the same division, and next year, Montreal will fight for a playoff spot, Toronto has to pay way more than just the right value. Savard has a year remaining at the end of the season and Matheson, 3 I think.

That's fair, but by the time they're ready to compete I think this trade would be helping them more at that point. If we agree that a 1st, Minten and Steeves would get Monahan and Matheson, and a 2nd and 3rd would get Savard, then I think Liljegren and Jarnkrok are close to equalling that second and 3rd. But for the sake of it, let's add a 3rd and remove Brodie, who I'll admit has arguably negative value atm. MTL can flip Jarnkrok, or keep him to insulate their younger players. Maybe the flip Lily as well with retention. They can then move forward with a center lineup of Dach, Minten and Suzuki, all players who are great two ways.

Montreal have at least 5 better center prospects in the system already than minten, you're not offering anything of value to get a top pair defenseman and a top 3-4 shutdown defenseman and our top UFA trade chip when nothing coming back is a piece with garunteed success in the nhl

I haven't seen any of your center prospects ranked higher than Minten, and yes he's about as much of a guarantee as you can get. Anyway, the point was to ask about cost.

Can you explain to me how Steeves is worth anything close to a 2nd round pick? he's 24 years old with a whopping 6 games played in the NHL.
